Whether you are brand new to the trades, already a Registered Apprentice, or a Red Seal Refrigeration Journeyperson, there are a few pathways into membership with UA Local 516.
Applying for membership in any of the following ways in no way guarantees membership with UA Local 516 or employment with a signatory contractor.
Option 1: I am new to the trades.
A foundation course is the best way to access employment. There are many to choose from, and we recommend the following:
You must have:
- Permission to work in Canada
- Foundations of Math 11 (at mimimum)
- Clean drivers abstract
- Updated resume
- Physical ability to work from ladders

Option 2: I am currently a Registered Refrigeration Apprentice.
You must be prepared to:
- Submit your STBC transcript for review
- Write a math assessment if requested
- Submit a clean drivers abstract
- Submit an updated resume
- Physically work from ladders
- Interview with the JATC

- Submit a clean drivers abstract
