Social Events

Being a member of Local 516 means you're a member of a much larger family than you may realize.  The size of our beautiful province presents a challenge to connecting with your sisters and brothers of UA Local 516.  The members of the Social Committee recognize this challenge and have volunteered to spearhead social events across the province to not only have a great time, but build a sense of community among the membership.  No matter where you are in the province, the Social Committee wants to hear from you so that they can plan events that you will enjoy.

Past Event - Family Picnic - Saturday, August 26, 2017

On an absolutely beautiful day, we held our first annual UA Local 516 Family Picnic at the fantastic Blue Mountain Park in Coquitlam.  All those that attended enjoyed hot dogs, refreshments, snacks, games, face-painting, balloon animals, and fun in the sun!  Thank you to everyone who came out, we're hoping to make this an event that grows every year!

Congratulations to Peter C., who took home the BBQ as the winner of the draw at the end of the day.

Past Event - Burger & Beer Night - May 13, 2017

The first event organized was a Burger & Beer night benefitting the Surrey Food Bank.  On May 13th, about 30 people got together at Rusty's Neighbourhood Pub in Cloverdale, BC to enjoy food, drinks, and games, all while raising some money for the Surrey Food Bank.  The donations raised are in addition to the annual amount that UA 516 regularly donates to this local cause.

Whether you're in the interior, lower mainland, or on the island, if you have an idea for an event in your area or want to help with planning/organizing, please take a few moments to email the Social Committee.  Suggestions are always welcome!
